Cabbage patch

A very Happy New Year to all my friends!!

A great appetizer for any party. I doubled the recipe for the fun New years party yesterday. It was a huge hit! Several people asked for the recipe and so I decide to blog this one right away. It's very simple to put together. The chopping is the only thing that will take a minute. Food processor will make the job much easier or of course a reluctant husband will do just fine as well!

3 cups shredded cabbage.

1 carrot grated.

1 onion finely chopped.
1/3 cup cilantro finely chopped.
1 1/2 - 2 cups besan/gram flour or chick pea four. This is available at the Indian store. The package looks like this.

11/3 cups water (or more for pancake batter consistency)
Salt to taste.
1/2 tsp grated ginger
3 chilies finely chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric.
1/2 tsp chili powder.
1 tsp each cumin and coriander powder.
1/3 cup canola or vegetable oil.

Mix all ingredients, in a large bowl. Pour into a greased 9X13 pan.

Bake covered for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Uncover for the last 10 minutes and bake till done. The top will appear dry a when done. Serve on a bed of shredded cabbage or lettuce leaves with some spicy ketchup!

Enjoy!! Until next time XOXO!
